6-week course for men ages 30-60
Face the Darkness. Find the Gold.
For the man who's tired of the anger, the numbness, and shutting down on
the people he loves.
You keep reacting in ways you swore you wouldn't. You go quiet when your wife is upset. You snap at your kids and hate yourself an hour later. You've read the books and maybe sat in a counselor's office, and you understand yourself better than ever. The pattern is still there.
This is six weeks of breathing practices that calm your body, straight talk about why you react the way you do, and a small room of men facing it with you.

Fine on the Outside. Something Else Underneath.
From the outside, your life works. You provide. You show up. People count on you.
But there's a mask you wear so often you forget it's there. Underneath it, things you buried a long time ago are still running the show. The anger that comes out of nowhere. The numbness at night. The way you disappear when someone you love needs you most. Everyone around you can see the pattern. You're the last one who can.
And the hardest part is that you're carrying it alone. Maybe you have a wife and kids and no real friends. Maybe the only person you talk to about any of this is the person it's hurting.
You weren't made to live behind the mask. And you don't have to keep fighting what you've buried. You can face it.
I Know That Cave
I'm Jason Twombly. For most of my life I carried something I couldn't name. It was a gray fog that drained me, and I'd been taught to fight it, push it down, and pray it away. All that did was drive it deeper.
What finally changed things wasn't more information. It was learning to stop fighting what I'd buried, getting curious about what it was protecting, and doing that work in the honest company of other men.
I've spent decades walking with men through this, as a missionary, a pastor, and now a coach. I built MANCAVE as the place to start. It isn't my deepest work. It's the doorway.
How It Works
Join The cohort.
Save your seat for January’s st, or talk with me first if you’re not sure.
1.
Face it Together.
For Six consecutive Tuesday evenings we will meet on Zoom with a small group of men. Between sessions, there will be a short video, a practice, and a guided meditation you can do at home.
2.
3.
Bring home the gold.
Walk out with a calmer body, a clear read on your own patterns, and men who know your story.
-
The face you show the world, and what it's been protecting.
-
The patterns everyone sees but you, and what they point to.
-
Where your reactions started, and the half-second between trigger and response.
-
Anger, shame, fear, and grief, and what got buried along with them.
-
Living from what you've reclaimed with your wife, your kids, and your work.
-
Telling your story to men who've walked it with you, and stepping through.
Every week starts in the body. You'll learn breathing practices that calm your nervous system, so this doesn't stay in your head the way talking alone often does.

What the Men are Saying

Jason opened up a world to me that I thought was fantasy. He taught me a way of life that was empowering.

Two Ways This Year Can Go
If nothing changes:
The same argument keeps happening, and you keep losing it to the same reaction. Your kids learn to read your moods the way you learned to read your father's. You stay fine on the outside and alone on the inside, and the people closest to you keep paying for what you've buried.
When you face it:
You notice the reaction before it takes over. Your body stays calmer when the pressure rises. Your wife can feel that you're staying in the room. And there are men in your life who know the real story and still have your back.
You don't have to fight what you've buried. You can face it, and find what's been waiting there.

Common Questions
-
Yes, though you won't hear much jargon. Shadow work just means facing the parts of yourself you've buried instead of fighting them. Your anger, your shutdown, your shame didn't come from nowhere. They've been protecting something, and when you face them, you find what got buried along with them. That's the gold.
-
It won't ask you to set your faith aside, and it won't preach at you. Facing what's hidden and bringing it into the light is about as old and biblical as it gets. The course itself uses everyday language, so men of any background are welcome.
Here's my own story. I grew up being taught to rebuke shame, to treat it like an enemy and cast it out. It never left. It just went deeper. What changed things was learning that you can't rebuke an emotion God built into you. You can face it, ask what it's protecting, and let grace meet the whole story, the light side and the dark. That's the work we do here. Whatever you find in the cave, you are not beyond love.
-
Usually because your body reads her distress as danger before your mind catches up. Some men go into fight mode and get sharp. Others go into shutdown and disappear. Both are old protective patterns, often learned long before you met her.
In MANCAVE you'll learn to notice the half-second between the trigger and your reaction, and to calm your body inside it. That half-second is where a different response becomes possible.Engagements range from two weeks for focused audits to several months for comprehensive transformation.
-
This isn't therapy. It's training. You'll practice real skills in a room of men: calming your body, catching your patterns, and facing what you've buried.
It goes deep, and many men find it changes them at a level talking never reached. But I'm a coach, not a therapist, and this is coaching.
-
Breathwork is just using your breathing on purpose to calm your body down or steady it under stress. It isn't mystical, and nobody's chanting. Navy SEALs, athletes, and first responders use the same basic tools.
In MANCAVE it's how each session starts, because a calm body makes honest conversation possible. Most men tell me it's the part they didn't expect to need.
-
You can still do the course. The full self-paced version lives inside The Forge, Heartsmith's online community on Skool, and it's included with membership.
You'll get every video, breathing practice, and meditation to go through at your own pace. And Forge members also meet live twice a month for group coaching (currently every other Wednesday evening), so you still get a room of men. You're welcome in a future MANCAVE cohort whenever the timing works. Join The Forge
